  • 1974 Lifeline founded by Dr. Andrew Dibner in Boston, Massachusetts.
  • 1988-1990 The Comox Valley Lifeline Society is founded as a zone project by participating local Lions Clubs, each placing a representative on the Board of Directors.
  • Directors sign the constitution and bylaws. Comox Valley Lifeline is registered as a non-profit Society with the Registrar of Societies in Victoria.

  • 1992- Comox Valley Lifeline Society becomes affiliated with the British Columbia Associations of Lifeline Programs.
  • 1995-1996 Board of Directors is expanded to include representatives from St. Joseph's Hospital, BC Tel Volunteers, and Satellite Coordinators from the Cowichan Valley, Chemainus/Crofton, and Sunshine Coast.

    Additional seats were added for community organization representatives, such as Continuing Care, Evergreen Seniors, and Comox Valley Senior Peer Counseling. The society is completely independent, self supporting, and a registered charity.

  • Many community service clubs, and fraternal organizations contribute by sponsoring monitoring fees for the less fortunate needing Lifeline, and continue to donate funds for purchasing Lifeline units.

    We assist those of limited funds, meeting our established criteria, to obtain Lifeline at a reduced fee.

  • April, 1998 Comox Valley Lifeline Society celebrates 10 years of service, and receives commemorative plaque from Lifeline Canada.
  • April, 2003 Will mark our 15th anniversary year. We currently serve over 800 Lifeline subscribers.
